The power of Faith.

Elder Henry B. Eyring.

It will take unshakable faith in the Lord Jesus Christ to choose the way to eternal life. It is by using that faith we can know the will of God. It is by acting on that faith we build the strength to do the will of God. And it is by exercising that faith in Jesus Christ that we can resist temptation and gain forgiveness through the Atonement.

We will need to have developed and nurtured faith in Jesus Christ long before Satan hits us, as he will, with doubts and appeals to our carnal desires and with lying voices saying that good is bad and that there is no sin. Those spiritual storms are already raging. We can expect that they will worsen until the Savior returns.

Homecoming at Liahona

Rylie, Carlie and Hannah Harkness
In their masquerade masks
Jessie is Rylie's makeup artists.

Saturday night was Liahona's Homecoming dance. The theme was a masquerade ball. How fun we already had the mask. Jessie bought them for the girls. Friday was the homecoming game. We played Meridian. We won!! We just used dresses that we had from Jessie's high school dance days for Rylie and Carlie borrowed from Jen a friend from cheer. It took two hours to do Rylie's hair. It was a fun night for them. At Liahona if you are 14 you can go to the dance without a date. I am so glad that my girls love this school. It really works for our family.

The Gathering of Friends.

Breta, Me, Melaine, Racheal, Karen, and Annette

We are part of a grand sisterhood, who derive great pleasure from hearth and home, there is something wonderful about carefully preparing and sharing a meal with another. My friend Lindy Allen gave me this book " The Gathering of Friends. ( You can get it at Four Chairs) Each meal is outlined with a complete menu, photographed with table dressings and place settings. Each recipe is simple. In chapter eleven the menu "An Afternoon with Friends". Today was Breta Finlinson's birthday. (we also celebrated Karen Strongs and Reachel Williams birthdays theirs in Febuary) So instead of going out to lunch I had the luncheon at my home. We had Mexican Chicken Crescent Squares, Barley and Mushroom Pilaf, Spinach Salad and Pumpkin Surprise.

I lived in their neighborhood for over 22 years. I miss them so much. They are all great friends of mine. I am grateful for the love and support through the years. We had a great time. Thanks girls for coming. The Lord has truly blessed me with good and righteous friends women who want so badly to do what is right and a great example to me.

I want the blessings!!

This about what the temple looked like when Scott and I got married. It was very cool.

If our people will faithfully attend the temple the Lord will bless them in the following ways:
Greater love and unity in the home, Business and professions will prosper, Their children will be saved, and Angels will protect them. Elder Vaughn J. Featherstone.

I love the temple.

Rely on the Protective Power of Prayer.

Elder M. Russell Ballard

The Doctrine and Covenants teaches, “Pray always, that you may come off conqueror; yea, that you may conquer Satan, and that you may escape the hands of the servants of Satan that do uphold his work” (D&C 10:5).

What a wonderful promise! In this spiritual warfare that rages over individual souls, that is what we want more than anything else—to conquer Satan and to escape the hands of evil men and women who carry out his work. I cannot stress too highly the protective power that comes into our lives through earnest, humble, consistent, yearning prayer.

I want to conquer Satan! I want that protective power!

Weekend fun!

We had a fun and busy weekend. Friday Rylie went skiing at Sundance, with McCall, Sam, and Tessa. Beautiful day, why didn't I go? Then that night she went to Olive Garden with Lydia, McCall, Tessa, Sam, Katlin, Grace, and Ester. Then they went to the Provo Marriott for a sleep over. Sam's mom was the lucky women in charge. ( Lucky her) Rylie got maybe 2 hours of sleep that night. She was very sleepy on Saturday. Didn't get much out of her that day.

On Saturday Carlie had some friends over. They made cookies, and played pool. Tyler and Ben go to Liahona with Carlie and Rylie. Cassidy Cook cheers with Carlie and is in our ward. It was good clean fun. I love my kids friends they are just good kids.

"Happy Bag"

I started this Lila Tueller bohemian bag a few months ago. I just never finished it. The holiday and all keep me busy. I only had to attach the handles to the bag. Carlie likes this one better than the other one I made. I really like the bright fun colors. I guess it's a "happy bag."

It's a blessing!

Today our ward Relief Society did a 10:00 session in the Provo Temple. I text Jessie to see if she wanted to go. She did. Yea!! What a blessing it is to have a daughter who lives her life in such a way to be able to go to the temple and loves the temple and has a testimony of temple work. Thank you Jessie. I love you!

And snow it did!

I said let it snow and it did! Today when I was coming home from picking up Carlie from Gymnastics my sweet son was shoveling the drive way. Without being asked. He just showed up and to work he went. He got out our ATV with a snow plow. I thought that was so sweet. He did as much as he could. Then he got the plow stuck, he couldn't get it up the drive way. Oh well its the thought that counts. Thanks Geoff.
