Scott helping with the Hukilau

Just before dinner.

hukilau is a way of fishing invented by the ancient Hawaiians. The word comes from huki, meaning pull, and lau, meaning leaves. A large number of people, usually family and friends, would work together in casting the net from shore and then pulling it back. The net was lined with ki leaves, which would help scare the fish into the center of the net. A Hawaiian phrase for a party on the beach. It's like saying "barbecue" to a Texan.

We had a great time and the food was so good!!

VIP Tour of the Laie Hawaii Temple open house

I felt so blessed to be able to go to the Laie Hawaii Temple today. I hope everyone knows how I feel about Temples. I LOVE the temple and I felt excited for the saints here in Hawaii. About 10 years ago I went to the Laie Hawaii Temple and did some work there. Wow what a great job they did in the renovation of this temple. It is beautiful. The Lord loves his children where ever we live. Temple work is a love of mine. I have been so blessed because of the temple. The spirit is strong in the temple.
